Market Commentary
February 2021

The market for real estate in the GTA has gotten off to a strong start for 2021. The Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) has posted the sales figures for January, and the 6,928 sales reported through the MLS System represent a 52.5% increase over January 2020.

Through our global network of real estate affiliates, I have the pleasure of attending many informative and big picture market presentations. A recent one that I attended featured a senior economist with the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). In the meeting, we were given an overview of the Canadian housing market in the year 2021. It was an eyeopener to say the least.

5 Interior Design Trends
To Try Right Now

If you’re ready for a refresh, here are five interior design trends to try out in the months ahead:

Icewine Recipes

Icewine is unique from other wines. It’s produced from grapes that have been left on the vine well beyond the fall harvest. Not till the weather temperature drops to -8° or less, on a consistent basis (usually in December), are the grapes harvested. Each grape is hand-picked during the night and pressed immediately, while still frozen, to capture a thick, rich, yellow-gold liquid that is highly-concentrated in sugars and acidity.

One Way to Safely
Have Visitors this Winter

Craving a little company to help pass the long winter days? Put up a bird feeder outside your home and enjoy daily visits by feathered friends such as finches, chickadees, cardinals, blue jays, woodpeckers and more.

Reshaping Luxury Real Estate

Defined as the generation born between 1981–1996, it’s safe to say that Millennials are not kids anymore. They have families, degrees, and high-paying jobs. They also make up the largest percentage of luxury real estate buyers — 37 percent, in fact, as of 2019. As Millennials become the new majority in real estate, they’re also exerting significant influence over amenities, design trends and the overall marketplace, with interests ranging from smart technology to organic materials.
